DBasia.news – Liverpool failed to continue the victory trend and went home with no point after the 0-2 defeat against Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League match.
Despite lack of rotating the players, The Reds faced the difficulty to play against the host. Responding to this defeat, Liverpool captain, James Milner, speaks up.
“From the first whistle. We didn’t start well enough and that showed by them getting the two goals,” Milner revealed.
“We didn’t start well enough. We have had enough chances to get back into the game and we didn’t take them. Passing the ball wasn’t good enough. We didn’t start and when you don’t start in the Champions League you get punished,” he added.
Milner also assumes Red Star Belgrade really successful utilizing their status as the host. He thinks the support from the fans made Marko Marin and friends can perform the best.
The defeat is a great loss for Liverpool because the chance to qualify for the big 16 isn’t guaranteed despite they lead the Group C temporary table.
Liverpool must fight and play the two remaining matches in the group phase, the away matches against Paris Saint-Germain and Napoli in the final match at Anfield on December.
