DBasia.news – Liverpool played a goalless draw while entertaining Bayern Munich in the first leg of the last 16 Champions League at Anfield, Wednesday (20/2) early morning hrs. Jordan Henderson, Liverpool midfielder, conceited the Reds can reverse the situation in the second leg later.
Bayern fans sing happily and loudly to welcome the goalless draw, as if thinking their beloved team could win at the Allianz Arena and get rid of Liverpool. But, there is one thing they must also consider.
Liverpool are just as dangerous, even if they score one goal later, then the situation will be even more difficult for Bayern because it’s worth the away goal. On the basis of that assessment, Henderson, the captain of Liverpool, believes that he can complicate Bayern at the Allianz Arena.
“That (opportunity to qualify for the Champions League quarter-finals) is still there. Liverpool also still have to play a few games before the second leg is held. We must feel certain and confident,” said Henderson as reported by Goal.
“Yes, the match will indeed be challenging, but the team already has a lot of experience in the Champions League. We will go there (Bayern headquarters) and hurt them,” continued Hendo warning Bayern.
Liverpool released 15 attempted kicks and only two were on target and tested Manuel Neuer. The course of the match was quite balanced in the first half, but in the second half, the hosts practically dominated the game.
Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Georginio Wijnaldum, Naby Keita, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, repeatedly made it challenging for Bayern’s defense to be held by two ‘German walls’, Niklas Sule and Mats Hummels.
“Yes, of course we were disappointed that we couldn’t score, but Liverpool managed to record a clean sheet and defend very well. The team also had many goal opportunities, especially in the first half. Overall, our performances were quite good, but failed to take advantage of the obntained opportunity,” added Henderson.
The good news for Liverpool: Virgil van Dijk has completed the card accumulation sanctions and can play in the second leg which takes place March 14 2019 at 3:00 a.m. WIB.
While Bayern are still without Thomas Muller, plus Joshua Kimmich who received a yellow card and missed playing at the Allianz Arena. Niko Kovac is believed to put Rafinha as a substitute for Kimmich and James Rodriguez to fill Muller’s playground.
