Juventus deserves to qualify for the Champions League quarterfinals

By db-admin – Juventus met Villarreal in the last 16 of the Champions League. Leonardo Bonucci considers that the Bianconeri were worthy to step into the quarter-finals.

Juventus won the Champions League Group H. The Old Lady were then met by Villarreal in the knock-out phase, who previously advanced as runners-up in Group F.

Although the 2 teams have never met, Juventus is in a superior position in terms of players. If you refer to the performance of the two teams throughout this season, they are in a balanced position.

According to Bonucci, Juventus deserve to be able to advance to the quarter-finals. Moreover, it was the team’s target after the two previous editions were halted in the last 16.

“Juventus deserve to be in the European quarter-finals, so we have to move forward. As far as Italy is concerned, after a great 2021, we must achieve our goal of qualifying for the World Cup in March,” Bonucci said as quoted by Football Italia.

The first round of Juventus’ Champions League clash against Villarreal will take place in Spain on February 22, local time. Juventus then turn to host the second leg on March 16.

Bonucci is 34 years old and under contract with Juventus until June 2024. He has made 21 appearances in all competitions this season, totaling to 1,885 minutes. During that time, he has scored 3 goals and helped the team to 8 clean sheets.
