DBasia.news – Juventus have made it to the last 16 of the Champions League. The Bianconeri are one step closer to the minimal target.

Juventus won Group H after beating Malmo 1-0 at Allianz Stadium, Thursday (9/12/2021). This certainty was also accompanied by Chelsea’s 3-3 draw at Zenit headquarters.

In the last two editions of the Champions League, Juventus’ steps stopped in the last 16 after being kicked out by Lyon and FC Porto. The Old Lady even though at that time she was the group winner.

Juventus must now be able to advance further in the Champions League this season. Defender Leonardo Bonucci said that Juventus’ minimum target is to reach the quarter-finals.

There are six teams that could potentially become Juventus’ opponents if Villarreal were able to beat Atalanta in a match that was postponed due to snow. Among them are Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid.

“We hope for the best physical and mental form in the last 16 to advance. Juventus’ minimum target is to reach the last eight of the Champions League,” Leonardo Bonucci was quoted as saying by Football Italia.

“Whatever draw we get, and it could be Paris Saint-Germain or Atletico Madrid. We have to reach that game in the best shape possible. We have to at least reach the quarter-finals.”

Bonucci believes there are many strong teams in the knockout stages. Juventus are even under teams like Bayern Munich to Liverpool.

“It would be hypocritical for us to say that Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Liverpool have nothing more than Juve at the moment.”
