DBasia.news – Ahead of the summer transfer window deadline, Liverpool lost the 31-year-old goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, who returned to strengthen the team in his hometown, Club Brugge.
After six years strengthening the Reds from Sunderland, Mignolet returned to Belgium after nine years of wandering in England. Club Brugge reportedly bought him for seven million euros. Mignolet was contracted for five years.
“After completing a good medical test, goalkeeper Simon Mignolet signed a five-year contract with Blauw-Zwart. Liverpool, Club Brugge and Simon reached an agreement today,” said an official statement from Brugge.
The reason for Mignolet’s departure from Liverpool is believed to be due to his playing hours which are increasingly diminishing, especially since Alisson Becker came last season from AS Roma.
Although last season won the Champions League, the goalkeeper who also owns a coffee cafe business in Belgium only appeared twice in all competitions. No doubt Mignolet decided to strengthen Brugge.
Recruit Adrian
Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool manager, still needs a second goalkeeper or coating for Alisson. Klopp can maximize Caoimhin Kelleher, a Liverpool academy product, as a coating.
Liverpool originally had Kamil Grabara and Loris Karius. But, both of them are just starting their loan spells at Huddersfield Town and Besiktas (Karius is entering his second season at Besiktas).
As a result, according to news from the Guardian, Liverpool managed to recruit Adrian, a former West Ham United goalkeeper. The 32-year-old goalkeeper was recruited because he no longer owns the club after his contract expires. Adrian immediately joined Liverpool shortly after the club sold Mignolet.
The Spanish goalkeeper is the ideal coating for Alisson. Because Adrian is full of experience through his career for six years with Wes Ham. Before at West Ham, Adrian played for Real Betis (2012-13).
