DBasia.news – Liverpool won a dramatic victory after being left behind against Southampton in the weekend of the 33rd Premier League match. The Reds won 3-1 at St Mary’s Stadium on Saturday (6/4) early morning Western Indonesian Time. After the match, Jurgen Klopp, the Liverpool manager, confirmed that his team could not play like Manchester City.
Liverpool left behind first through Shane Long’s goal in the 9th minute. The Reds were finally able to equalize through a header from Naby Keita in the 36th minute.
Entering the 80th minute, Liverpool took the lead through Mohamed Salah’s goal. The Egyptian national team player carried out a quick attack before firing at the far post. Liverpool locked victory after Jordan Henderson four minutes ahead of the long whistle.
“The game is not at the top level, but it’s about fighting. People want us to play like Manchester City. We can’t do that. We play football on our own,” Klopp said as quoted by Mirror.
“Now we have 82 points. It’s amazing in a difficult league where everyone is waiting for us. I’m proud, that’s amazing,” said the manager.
“We had to work for this. However, all three goals were brilliant. It was very nice for Naby Keita to score the first goal. After that, we controlled the match,” he explained.
Although again leading the standings, Jurgen Klopp did not want to laugh. The former architect of Borussia Dortmund is considered to be a Premier League champion at least need 90 points.
“I told the players that they have a good mentality. We are working for now, not waiting. This victory means a lot to us,” Klopp commented.
Liverpool have been waiting for FC Porto in the first leg of the 2018-2019 Champions League quarter-final at Anfield Stadium on Wednesday (10/4). Four days later, Sadio Mane and his friends will meet Chelsea.
