Lose to Bayern Munich, PSG President Calls His Club Will Win the Champions League Later
By db-admin
DBasia.news – President of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Nasser Al-Khelaifi said that his club will win the Champions League, one day. This statement was made after PSG failed in their first appearance in the Champions League final in the 2019-2020 season. PSG defeated Bayern Munich 0-1 on Monday (24/8).
The defeat was a disappointment for PSG, who have invested heavily in bringing in star players like Neymar and Kylian Mbappe to achieve their main goal of winning the Champions League title.
Al-Khelaifi admitted that the club is very disappointed and sad, but also guarantees that this is not the last time PSG have reached this level.
“We are sad. Don’t forget we did great things this season. In the final, we lost 1-0 but we (should) have scored two or three goals,” Al-Khelaifi told RMC Sport.
“It was very close. I’m very proud of the players. We had a great season, a great tournament here. We have everything we need to win, but that’s football.”
“We will work hard to win next season. Tonight we believe more than ever. I promise we will win the Champions League.”
Despite the defeat, Al-Khelaifi said PSG were still having a successful season and that defeat in Lisbon would be seen as a lesson for the club.
“The players, to be honest, everyone deserves to be proud,” he said. “They have created something.”
“We played against the mighty Bayern and that is something. They are one of the best teams in the world. We lost 1-0. That’s football. You have to improve the little things. This is our first final, but the eleventh for Bayern.”
“We had a great season, we reached the final, and we won four trophies. We are sad, we are disappointed, but there is a positive side.”
“We will come back one day, we will work for that. It is not easy to reach the final, but we will do all we can to win this trophy,” he concluded.
