DBasia.news –  Louis van Gaal, former manager of Manchester United, criticized the management of the Red Devils which he considered to have no focus on technical football, but commercial. Recognized by him, Sir Alex Ferguson also thought about this.

Van Gaal, who recently retired from football, was once Man United’s manager in mid-2014-2016. Within two years there, Van Gaal presented an FA Cup title and brought the club to finish fourth and five in the Premier League.

The 67-year-old Dutchman was fired after being assessed by management as being unable to lift the team’s performance. Jose Mourinho continued his work at Man United – before finally being replaced again with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last December.

Van Gaal is one of the ‘victims of the experiment’ of Man United’s manager after the Sir Alex Ferguson era ended in 2013. He, David Moyes, Jose Mourinho, was considered unsuccessful in maintaining United’s level of play to return to their habitat: fighting for the Premier League title.

Questioning the condition, the former Ajax Amsterdam coach, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and the Dutch national team gave criticism to the structure of Manchester Red directors. Something is not right in it.

At present, the control is fully held by Ed Woodward, Man United’s Executive Vice-Chairman. But according to Van Gaal, United should have a Technical Director (Sports) with a football background or at least have experience in that field, not a banker.

“At present, there is a structure with a talent search division and on top of it is someone, in the right hand (Ed) Woodward,” Van Gaal told   BBC Sport.

“The structure is not so bad, but the right hand (trust) must be the Technical Director with (background) football, not someone with a banker role.”

“Unfortunately, we are talking about a commercial club, not a football club. I have spoken to (Sir Alex) Ferguson about it and in his final year (training United), he also has a problem with him,” said Van Gaal.

Of course, the phrase from Van Gaal made fans disappointed. They want a prestigious trophy like the Premier League and Champions League, not an increase in income each year to be satisfied with just sitting in the Champions League zone.
