DBasia.news –  The Uruguayan national team striker, Luis Suarez, made a special record after playing against Japan in the second match of the 2019 C Copa America group, Friday (6/21) morning Western Indonesian Time.

Uruguay drew 2-2 after a 4-0 win over Ecuador. Two goals from Oscar Tabarez’s Uruguay were scored by Luis Suarez (32′ penalty) and Jose Maria Gimenez (66′), while two Japanese goals scored by the 22-year-old Koji Miyoshi.

Despite the controversy over the use of VAR (Referee Assistant Video) which is relatively inclined to side with Uruguay, Suarez’s goal recorded a personal record.

The 32-year-old has become the third player in Uruguay’s all-time history to score in four consecutive Copa America. Suarez is under Pedro Petrone and Severino Varela.

“Luis Suarez became the third Uruguayan player in history to score in four Copa America matches in a row (two goals in 2011 and two goals in 2019) after Pedro Petrone (five goals between 1923 and 1924), and Severino Varela (four goals between 1937 and 1939),” chirped @OptaJavier.

The penalty goal scored by El Pistolero also added to the number of goals in Uruguay to 58 goals from a total of 109 caps. Its sharpness is still maintained at three more head ages.

“Luis Suarez has scored four Uruguayan penalties; including equalizing against Japan, he has now scored 58 goals for the national team (nine via a penalty) in 109 caps. Hungry,” continued @OptaJavier.

Not only Suarez, his tandem on the front lines, Edinson Cavani, also recorded a special achievement at the 112th caps for the Uruguay national team. PSG striker (Paris Saint-Germain) matches the number of appearances for Uruguayan legend Diego Forlan.

“Edinson Cavani equals Diego Forlan as the third player with the most number of matches in the history of Uruguay (112 caps). Matador,” said @OptaJavier.

Uruguay is currently still at the top of the standings with four points from the two matches that have taken place, followed by Chile (three points from one match), Japan (one point), and Ecuador. Ecuador’s match against Chile will only take place on Saturday (22/6) morning Western Indonesian Time.
