DBasia.news – Manchester United have forgotten the 2018-19 season and are looking at next season. Man United’s CEO, Ed Woodward, insists he will fully support Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the 2019 summer transfer market.
The Red Devils had failed to finish in the Champions League zone and held for two consecutive seasons. The managerial club also changed from Jose Mourinho to Solskjaer as of December 2018, before the United legend is contracted permanently at the end of March 2019.
However, the club’s finances are still in a healthy measure and Woodward announces the club’s financial condition. Three-quarters of United’s annual income increased 3.4 percent at a price of £ 152.1 million.
A 94 percent increase also occurred in operating profits of 14.2 million pounds. United’s debt also remained static at 301.7 million pounds with an increase of 0.4 million pounds over the year.
Woodward revealed financial conditions as a form of transparency for Man United fans. Above all, most important according to Woodward, is management’s full support to Solskjaer and his coaching staff.
“After a shocking season, everything at Manchester United is focused on building the expected success of this great club and also for our fans,” Woodward said, as quoted by Sky Sports.
“Preparations for the new season are underway and the foundation of the strength of our business will be to provide support to managers and their teams as we are looking at the future.”
“The season that just ended clearly ended in a way we didn’t expect, finishing sixth and with a disruption to managerial changes.”
“Nevertheless, Ole and the squad fought back since the middle of December to restore us in the Champions League Qualifying fight next season, but unfortunately, we lacked preparation,” he explained.
Woodward’s commitment means that management will try its best to bring in players as desired by the manager.
“Even though the past few weeks have been disappointing, we are happy to confirm Ole’s appointment as our manager in three years of contract and also, recently confirmed key members in the coaching staff,” added Woodward.
“Mike Phelan, Michael Carrick, Kieran McKenna, and Mark Dempsey, will remain at the club. All at the club – directors, managers, squad and all staff are very eager to return United to the top of English football.”
“We are constantly looking for ways to improve staff on and off the match to achieve it.”
“The strength of our business means that we have the financial resources to continue a solid foundation to support managers and create success. That, forever, remains our main target,” concluded Woodward.
