DBasia.news – Manchester United’s friendly match against Stoke City had to be abruptly canceled as Championship division club manager, Michael O’Neill was tested positive for the Covid-19 virus.

Stoke’s squad had arrived at the Red Devils training ground to do the match and then they were told about O’Neill’s positive test. The Northern Ireland manager had previously taken five tests and the results were stated negative, Stoke said in a statement.

“Stoke confirmed that manager O’Neill was positive for the COVID-19 virus test after the last test on Monday (June 8),”

“He is now following relevant guidelines and undergoing a period of isolation, while continuing to have regular virtual contact with his coaching staff and players.”

The Premiere League competition has been suspended since mid-March due to the corona virus pandemic, but the Premiere League is scheduled to resume on June 17, while the Championship follows three days later.

Currently, Man United are fifth in the Premiere League standings, three points adrift of Chelsea and will resume the match against Tottenham Hotspur on June 19.
