Manchester City Sign the English Young Talent Until 2024

DBasia.news – The 18-year-old attacking midfielder, Phil Foden, is one of the talents from Manchester City Academy. The club noticed that and signed him officially until 2024.

Foden was promoted to Manchester City senior team in 2016/2017. His name was listed in Pep Guardiola squad in the Champions League match against Celtic.

Manchester City sporting director Txiki Begiristain revealed the reason why the club renewed his contract at Etihad Stadium.

“He is an outstanding talent and he is Manchester City born and bred so this is where he wants to play his football,” Txiki said as cited by Manchester City’s official website.

“Under Pep (Guardiola) and with the players we have here around him, he is in the best place possible to develop as a player.”

Foden has his debut with Manchester City in November 2017, substituting Yaya Toure in the match against Feyenoord and became the fourth-youngest English football player in the Champions League.

He won the first trophy with the senior team when he substituting Sergio Aguero in the League Cup at Wembley and became the youngest player who won the Premier League title.

He won the third trophy during the 2-0 victory in the Community Shield from Chelsea in 2018/2019. Foden scored his first goal for Manchester City when they won 3-0 against Oxford United in the 2018/2019 League Cup.
