Manchester United Extends Odion Ighalo’s Loan period

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Manchester United officially increased the duration of Odion Ighalo’s loan status until January 2021.

The striker was brought in from the Chinese Super League club, Shanghai Shenhua on loan on the last day of the January transfer window to give Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a front-line option due to Marcus Rashford’s injury.

The Nigerian player, who previously played for Watford, appeared impressively in eight matches before the corona virus pandemic struck – he scored four goals in three appearances as a starter.

Discussions with Shenhua have been held intensely as the Chinese club wants the attacker back to prepare for the start of the season.

However, after several weeks of negotiations, the two clubs finally agreed to extend the loan duration of the 30-year-old player to the end of January 2021.

The red devil has paid Shenhua’s loan costs for five months and it is believed the European giants has to spend to be able to secure the services of the striker.

Solskjaer has been hoping that Ighalo can stay in the squad until the end of the season, although there is no indication on the club to intend to change his status to permanent.

“This is a dream for him and I hope he can finish what he started, with a trophy with us,” Solskjaer told MUTV.

The Premiere League is scheduled to resume on June 17 and Solskjaer will have a complete squad as Rashford and Paul Pogba have been fully fit during the competition break due to COVID-19.
