Manchester United Mentioned to be Not Active in the January Transfer Market

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Manchester United deputy chief executive Ed Woodward said the Red Devils would not be very active in the January transfer window, while emphasizing the support of club officials for coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Manchester United have had an inconsistent start to the season. Although they have only lost three league defeats this season, they are quite a distance away from the top flight of the table.

The transfer market is reopening in a matter of weeks and Solskjaer has so far refused to comment on whether United will sign a new player or not.

“Let’s see where we are in January. Hopefully we continue to get better and I have a selection problem, I am happy with what is happening internally at the club,” said Solskjaer as quoted by Goal.

Ed Woodward said that Solskjaer had the full support of the club, while emphasizing that Manchester United should appear consistent to take the next level and win the trophy.

Woodward also said that the club will carry out transfer activity in the summer rather than January. United themselves brought in Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon in the January transfer market.

“I said this at the forum in April that we remain committed to strengthening the team, while being disciplined in spending during the pandemic,” said Woodward.

“I believe we have made it happen, with the additions we made over the summer bringing our total net expenditure to more than 200 million euros since summer 2019, more than any other big European club during that period.”

“We will continue to support Ole with a planned, long-term recruiting approach, focused on the summer window.”
