Manchester United Reach Positive Note against PSG

DBasia.news – Manchester United managed to overthrow 2-1 against Paris Saint-Germain on matchday 1 of Group H of the 2020-2021 Champions League, at the Parc des Princes, Tuesday (20/10) local time or Wednesday morning WIB. After the match, Man United continued their positive record two seasons ago.

Manchester United had a sweet experience when they visited PSG headquarters. In the second leg match of the last 16 of the 2018-2019 Champions League, Man United won 3-1 and had the right to advance to the next round.

In this match, PSG played in a 4-3-3 formation. The three posts on the front lines belong to Angel Di Maria, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.

Meanwhile, Manchester United relied on Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial to be the foundation for breaking into the PSG goal. Alex Telles also got the opportunity to appear from the start of the match.

Even though the previous match failed, Bruno Fernandes was still appointed as the executioner. However, his shot can still be saved by Keylor Navas.

Luckily for Manchester United, in making a save attempt, Navas made a mistake. The goalkeeper appeared to be advancing over the line before Fernandes fired.

In the end, the penalty was repeated. Bruno Fernandes, who was again trusted as the executor, did not waste opportunities. Man United winning 1-0 in the 23rd minute.

Manchester United almost doubled their lead in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, Fernandes’ shot into the lower right corner of the goal was still saved by Navas.

On the other hand, PSG continues its efforts to launch attacks. However, until the end of the first half the score was 0-1 unchanged.

PSG finally equalized in the 55th minute. Anthony Martial scored an own goal after misjudging the hosts’ corner.

This goal made PSG get a breath of fresh air. Thomas Tuchel’s squad grabbed a chance through Kylian Mbappe, but Aaron Wan-Bissaka was still able to fight.

Man United also did not remain silent. The visitors threatened Navas’ goal in the 69th minute through Rashford’s hard shot from outside the penalty box. Luckily for PSG, Navas is still nimble.

Marcus Rashford again threatened the PSG goal in the 81st minute. The England national team striker fired horizontally after getting a wild ball. No goals were created because Navas made another save.

Finally, Marcus Rahsford’s next effort paid off in the 87th minute. The goal came from Paul Pogba’s bait to Rashford from outside the penalty box.

Rashford immediately pushed towards the goal and fired a hard shot towards the right corner. Navas trying to reach the ball misses. Man United took the lead in the 88th minute.

Until the end of the match, Manchester United managed to maintain their advantage. The Red Devils also took home three points after winning 2-1.

These results put Manchester United in second place in Group H standings. The first position belongs to RB Leipzig who won 2-0 against Istanbul Basaksehir.
