Marcello Lippi’s Reason for not Training Premier League Clubs
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Marcello Lippi is a world-famous coach. But the 71-year-old coach who now coaches the Chinese national team has never coached a Premier League club. Lippi claimed to have refused the chance to train Tottenham Hotspur as his English was not fluent.
Marcello Lippi is one of the best coaches in the world. At the peak of his career, he helped the Italian national team win the 2006 World Cup. Meanwhile, at club level, he has won many titles with Juventus.
Marcello Lippi revealed, when he coached Juventus, he had received an offer to train Tottenham. However, language has become a barrier.
“Yes, I was very close to joining Tottenham Hotspur when I was training Juventus. They were very kind to me by contacting Davide, my son,” stated Lippi as reported by the Daily Mail.
“However, I did not feel like leaving from Turin and Juventus. For me, Juve is like Manchester United for Ferguson: a unique club that I like.”
Marcello Lippi is aware that language barriers should be overcome if you continue to learn. He is also aware that Sir Alex Ferguson was also not fluent in English. However, Lippi had already made a decision.
“I do not speak English well. That is also the reason why I refused. Someone also told me that Ferguson could not speak English fluently because he was Scottish,” continued Lippi.
Lately, Marcello Lippi has spent his time training in China. Before becoming a Chinese national team tactician, the Viareggio born coach had taken care of Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao.
