Marco Giampaolo Officially Holds AC Milan

Quoted from the official website of AC Milan, the Rossoneri recruited Marco Giampaolo from Sampdoria with a two-year contract until 2021 with an option to extend for a year. Giampaolo is believed to have a salary of two million euros per year.

“AC Milan announced the appointment of Marco Giampaolo as the new coach of the first team in force from July 1^st, 2019. The contract is bound until June 30^th, 2021 with the option to extend until June 2022,” said a statement on the club’s official website.

“Marco Giampaolo, born in Bellinzona on August 2, 1967, has trained 324 matches in all competitions throughout his career and 270 between in Serie A. Giampaolo will start training the AC Milan main team on the first day of training on July 9.”

The 51-year-old coach will be the 60th coach to win the seven Champions League title – eight since the sacking of Massimiliano Allegri in January 2014.

One of the advantages of Giampaolo is maximizing the potential of the young players he has. Joachim Andersen, Dennis Praet, became the two names he popularized at Sampdoria.

Milan did not pay for recruiting him as Giampaolo has cut off his contract with Sampdoria, the club he had fostered from 2016 to this year. Throughout his coaching career, Giampaolo once worked as an assistant coach.

Giampaolo had been an assistant to coach Giovanni Galeone, Aldo Agroppi, Edi Reja, Carlo Mazzone, and Nereo Rocco, before starting to train their own club, Ascoli, in 2004. Giampaolo’s presence is expected to improve Milan’s performance.

Milan still has difficulty in eliminating their Inconsistency. Last season, they failed to penetrate the Champions League zone because they did not consistently play. Italian football writer Adam Digby salutes the success of Milan securing Giampaolo’s service.
