Marco Verratti Called PSG Players Not Materialistic

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Italian midfielder Marco Verratti has denied claims that his team-mate at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is not a “gold digger,” while expressing his dream of winning the Champions League with the French team.

PSG has spent hundreds of millions to build a world-class squad since it was taken over by the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) in 2011.

However, Verratti denied that PSG players only joined because of a fantastic contract offer.

“In the beginning and even now, there are many players who say to me, ‘come on, talk to the president (PSG), I want to join and play there’,” Verratti said.

“PSG has become one of the seven or eight best teams in the world. That is why there are so many players, some of whom I don’t know, who want to play here.”

“Some say we play at PSG to get money, but that is not the case. If a player wants to get more money, he will go to China.”

“When a player chooses to play for PSG, he also chooses a project that will someday win the Champions League. In this city, his desire to win is five times more than in other clubs.”

Verratti himself was brought to PSG from Italian club Pescara in 2012, then the French club twice broke the world transfer record by bringing in Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.
