Marouane Fellaini’s Advice to Manchester United
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Marouane Fellaini, a former Manchester United midfielder, advised his former club not to use too many young players in the squad.
Manchester United officials plus Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have big plans this season. In essence, they plan to build the Red Devils by relying on young players.
However, so far, the tactic has not gone as expected. Manchester United were actually stuck in 12th place with just two wins.
Fellaini criticized Manchester United’s decision. According to him, the Red Devils were unable say much if they only relied on young players.
“Now Manchester United has a new coach. Man United wants to play with young players. That is what happens when you only play young players,” explained Fellaini as reported by the Daily Mail.
According to Fellaini, young players still find it difficult to appear consistently. “The players will experience ups and downs, because that’s football,” continued Fellaini.
“In football you cannot play only young players, there must be a mix. I think, to win a match, win a title and win a big game, you need experience.”
“It’s true, you can win one victory by using young players. However, these results are not achieved in every game.”
The advice given by Fellaini is indeed quite reasonable. As it will be difficult to compete at the top if Man United is too focused on young players.
In this season, a portion of the Manchester United game line are inhabited by young players. Only the goalkeeper’s position is not exposed to inexperienced players.
Harry Maguire is a leader in the Manchester United defense. However, he is usually paired with younger players such as Axel Tuanzebe and Victor Lindelof.
The result, Manchester United’s defense is still easily penetrated. In fact, Maguire is considered to have not shown the performance as when he was still strengthening Leicester City.
If you take the example of Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp chose to place Virgil van Dijk with Joel Matip. Both players already have a lot of experience. As a result, the collaboration of Matip and Van Dijk made it difficult for Liverpool to break into.
Besides being behind, Manchester United also has piled up young players at the attacking post. Mason Greenwood, Daniel James, and Tahith Chong are the young Red Devils players in that position.
The problem is, the other attackers can still be relatively be categorized as young players. Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial have both yet to enter the age of 25.
It is true, young players can give an injection of excess energy. However, experienced players can take advantage of the slightest opportunity to be a positive result.
In addition, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also does not have a long and good track record about caring for young players. Perhaps, it is better for Manchester United to listen to Marouane Fellaini’s advice.
If they are still set on their ways, it’s a good idea for Man United to appoint Arsene Wenger who has a neat report card to bring out the best abilities from young talents.
