DBasia.news –  Mason Greenwood set a new record when his goal was the decisive victory of Manchester United over Astana in the first match of the Europa League group L.

Greenwood, 17, scored in the 73rd minute with a dribbling action and ended with a precise finish from a tight angle. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made him a starter for the second time in the first team and Greenwood has appeared nine times.

Greenwood’s goal carved a new history in 141 years of Manchester United’s founding. According to Squawka, Greenwood became the first 17-year-old player to score in European competition. Also, he became the first player born in the 2000s to score goals for Man United’s senior team.

Greenwood has passed Marcus Rashford and United legend George Best in the category of the youngest all-time goalscorer in Europe. Greenwood scored at the age of 17 years and 353 days, while Rashford 18 years 117 days and Best 18 years 158 days.

Two former Man United players who became football observers, Owen Hargreaves and Michael Owen, both have strong beliefs to see Greenwood develop into a star in the future with the quality he has.

“That (Greenwood goal) almost reminds me of Robin van Persie,” Hargreaves said. Solskjaer, before the match began, also praised the completion of the player who scored 42 goals in 45 matches in the United youth team.

In total, when calculated from statistics, Greenwood has a pass accuracy of 94 percent, 53 times touched the ball, 34 times successfully passed the ball, and won the duel for the ball three times. Naturally, if the fans already have a song for him.

“Dynamite Ma-son Greenwood. He scored with his left foot and he scored with his right foot,” was the fan chant for Greenwood.
