Mats Hummels Commented on the Draw Against Dortmund vs Barcelona

By db-admin

DBasia.news –  The first match of the 2019-20 Champions League group F between Borussia Dortmund against Barcelona at Signal Iduna Park, Wednesday (18/9) ended in a goalless draw. Dortmund defender, Mats Hummels, was disappointed with the results of the match.

Judging by the statistics of the game, especially in terms of ball possession, Barcelona was very much worthy of winning as they were able to record 61% versus 39%. However, Borussia Dortmund appeared more effectively through a counterattack as evidenced by four shots on target compared to one owned by Blaugrana.

Lucien Favre’s team almost won even if Marco Reus’s penalty on the 57th minute was not thwarted by Marc-Andre ter Stegen who performed brilliantly. So, for Matts Hummels, the draw was more like two points wasted.

“We really didn’t let Barcelona develop the game. First half results are a fair representation of the match. “In the second half, we increased the pressure and forced them to make mistakes,” Matts Hummels said as quoted by the official UEFA website.

“In the end we lost two points and failed to put the team in a better position. “However, we can feel proud of the performance in the second half,” added the German player.

The 0-0 draw ensured that all Group F residents received the same points on the first matchday. As Inter Milan and Slavia Prague also ended in a draw, which was 1-1 at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, a few hours before the match between Borussia Dortmund vs Barcelona.
