DBasia.news – Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino admitted his disappointment toward the statement from Belgium national team coach, Roberto Martinez. It was related with Jan Vertonghen’s injury.

As a matter of fact, Vertonghen got injured in the Premier League match between Tottenham against Huddersfield Town last weekend. In the beginning, Vertonghen was predicted to have a small injury but turned out he had a hamstring injury.

Pochettino didn’t mention about Vertonghen’s injury and the recovery period. However, Martinez who didn’t handle Vertonghen directly because it’s not the international break yet, already predicted the recovery period for Vertonghen around six months.

That made Pochettino upset. There was no coordination between the national team and the club where the player works, hence the one-sided information.

“Of course, we’re so disappointed with that but we’ll see if it’s six weeks or less. It’s so difficult to communicate with all the national teams. Look at now, before my press conference you knew about the Vertonghen situation because Roberto told the media in Belgium before us,” Pochettino said quoted by Guardian.

“But in the end, it’s our player, our Tottenham player. Our Tottenham employee. They need to call us. They need to call and ask. If they call us, we are more than open to talk and give our opinion.”

Without Vertonghen, Pochettino still has Davinson Sanchez to collaborate with Toby Alderweireld in the core of Tottenham’s defense. The Belgium national team also have Alderweireld, Vincent Kompany, Thomas Vermaelen, and Christian Kabasele.
