Mikel Arteta Talks about Reasons for Not Playing Mesut Ozil
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Since the English League has started again in the midst of the corona virus pandemic, the name Mesut Ozil has not been on the Arsenal match list.
The public then began to predict that Ozil would leave at the end of the season, many also considered that the fantastic salary that he gets could be a factor of him continued to sit on the bench.
As is known, the former Real Madrid player gets a salary of 350 thousand pounds per week which also made him the player with the highest income in the squad.
After on several occasions choosing silence, Mikel Arteta finally opened his voice about Ozil’s future, the Spaniard insisted that the high salary he earned was not a factor that kept him on the bench.
“Does Ozil’s salary affect the composition of the players I set and he is no longer in the starting XI? No,” said Arteta as reported by Sky Sports.
“It (the Mesut Ozil contract) is an agreement between the player and the club, both sides are happy to do it, I never even questioned it,” the 38-year-old added.
This season, Mesut Ozil has only appeared in 18 matches with a collection of one goal and two assists, Arteta also understands if the player is also upset because he continued to occupy the bench.
“I am sure if Ozil is also upset because he continues to occupy the bench and is not played, but some time ago he was also injured, we have to see how it develops,” added the Pep Guardiola former assistant.
