DBasia.news – Napoli president, Aurelio De Laurentiis was furious to see that UEFA did not move the match against Barcelona in the Champions League from Camp Nou. Even though the corona virus in Spain is still an endemic.

Spain is indeed facing a second wave of the corona virus pandemic. This can be seen from the increasing number of positive cases in a number of regions in the last few days.

Catalunya which is the origin of Barcelona became the region with the highest surge in positive cases of the corona virus. But UEFA has no plans to move the Blaugrana match against Napoli.

Napoli’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis has condemned UEFA’s decision. He accused the European football confederation of underestimating the dangers of the corona virus.

“I do not understand why we have to go to a city that currently has a big problem. You hear great fear from Spain, and UEFA is ignoring that problem,” De Laurentiis said as quoted by Corriere dello Sport.

“I contacted them (UEFA) constantly but this is embarrassing.”

De Laurentiis did ask UEFA to move the match venue to a safer place. He certainly wants to protect his squad from the threat of the corona virus.

As is known, the corona virus pandemic around the world could make almost all competition in Europe stop. Although successfully continued, but a number of strict protocols must be followed.

“How long does it take to say that we can play in Portugal, Germany or Switzerland? Looks like we are back at school and no one at UEFA knows how to do business,” he added.

Barcelona and Napoli still has a chance to advance to the quarter-finals. In the first leg that took place in Napoli, both teams drew 1-1.
