DBasia.news – Paris Saint-Germain’s striker Neymar is currently the Brasilian player with the highest goalscoring record in the Champions League, following his one goal contribution to Liverpool.
The achievement also surpassed the achievement of AC Milan’s legend, Kaka.
Playing against Liverpool at Parc des Princes on the 5th matchday of Group C Champions League, PSG won the match with a 2-1 score.
In that match, Neymar was the hero of PSG with his one goal contribution. The 26-year-old player netted the second goal of Les Parisiens at 37′ after Juan Bernat started the dominance at 13′. Meanwhile, Liverpool squad under Jurgen Klopp could only respond with one goal at 46′ by James Milner’s penalty kick.
One goal to Liverpool is the fourth goal of Neymar in the Champions League this season. Previously, the former Barcelona striker scored the hat-trick against Red Star Belgrade on the second match of the group phase.
Besides, the one goal achievement is also special for Neymar because he sets the new record in the Champions League. Neymar has scored 31 goals in the Champions League, 21 goals with Barcelona and 10 goals with PSG.
The 31-goals achievement brings Neymar to surpass the record of Kaka who scored 30 goals with AC Milan and Real Madrid. The goal achievement also brings Neymar as the top-scorer Brasilian player in the Champions League.
Neymar’s record also exceeds another Brasilian legend, Rivaldo, who is in the third place by 27 goals in the Champions League with Barcelona and AC Milan.
