DBasia.news – FC Barcelona defeated Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Real Madrid in the hunt for the talented Ajax Amsterdam youth, Frenkie de Jong. The player has made a decision.
The Dutchman will join Ernesto Valverde’s squad in the upcoming 2019/20 season after the Barcelona side was willing to spend 75 million euros and pressured the contract for five years.
Although not going to be playing in Barca’s uniform until next season, De Jong in fact has had great ambitions. The 21-year-old hopes that the Blaugrana will become his last team in his football career. Because, De Jong wants to be like the superstar Lionel Messi who continues to insist that he is not interested in moving clubs.
“Paris Saint-Germain is indeed a good option for me, but I always dream of being able to strengthen Barcelona,” De Jong was quoted by Four Four Two.
“I am happy to be able to press a contract for five years. If I succeed (at Barcelona), chances are that I will never leave, just like Messi.”
His presence is indeed expected to be the beginning of the regeneration of the Blaugrana squad in midfield, considering Ivan Rakitic and Sergio Busquets are 30 years old.
