Official Becoming the Permanent Manager, Solskjaer Brings Two Targets for Man United

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
DBasia.news – Towards the end of March 2019, Manchester United announced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the club’s permanent manager for the next three years. Solskjaer immediately targeted two things for his team.
The first target is to retain its current coaching staff which contains: Michael Carrick, Kieran McKenna, and Mike Phelan. Then the second target, slowly building the team so that they can regain the Premier League title.
The coaching staff did help Solskjaer improve United’s performance since last December – when Solskjaer came on for Mourinho. Carrick and McKenna were maintained, while Phelan was reappointed as assistant manager – Phelan had been Sir Alex Ferguson’s trusted right hand man.
“Mike is a key part of the development (team) and they (Phelan, Carrick, McKenna) talk to each other,” Solskjaer said, as reported by the Goal.
“Of course, I expressed my opinion and also the development that we have now, I really hope it continues. The staff we have works well together and this is the key to getting results (good).”
“I don’t want to make any changes (on the coaching staff) and they also don’t knock on my door (asking to leave) and say they don’t want to continue, so hopefully we have the same thoughts,” Solskjaer explained.
The Premier League title is also a target for 46-year-old manager. Since Ferguson retired in 2013, Manchester Red has had difficulty reaching the Premier League trophy, even just competing in the Champions League zone is also challenging for them.
“Lifting the Premier League trophy is what we expect, what we are accustomed to doing, what we have done repeatedly. We cannot wait for years, but it will not happen overnight (instantly),” Solskjaer added.
“I will only be myself as usual. I certainly know what the challenges are. I want us to win the trophy, but I also can’t wait for the challenge of improving the squad.”
“We have worked with them for three months and the development can already be seen. We know they can still develop further. Every day in the training session their attitude is very great, but we know the road is still a long way ahead.”
“The journey will be like climbing a mountain, but we have climbed several mountains (past the challenge) before,” concluded the former United striker in mid-1996-2007.
The two remaining targets for United at the moment are competing in the top four of the Premier League (Champions League zone), and trying to get past Barcelona in the 2018-19 Champions League quarter-finals.
