Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Admits He Wasn’t Ready to Train Cardiff City in 2014

DBasia.news –  10 matches in a row passed by Manchester United without losing in all competitions. It all happened under the tutelage of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, something he had never felt when he coached Cardiff City.

In 2014, Solskjaer was appointed to coach Cardiff who were fighting away from the relegation zone. But he only stayed there for a while because the performance of the Bluebirds did not increase and then returned to Molde.

Five years passed. The 45-year-old Norwegian manager admitted he was not ready to train Cardiff at the time. “The decision was not right at the time, to be honest. But you live and you learn,” said Solskjaer on the Goal.

“I was not ready for the fight (running away from the relegation zone). I didn’t say I’m not ready for the Premier League. It’s different. I know the culture and the identity of the club and the play style. Of course, Manchester United is more suitable to me than a struggling team in the bottom of the standings.

The experience of training United legends in mid 1996-2007 is indeed not much. But, because Solskjaer understands United’s culture well, the adaptation process was not too difficult.

“It’s easier here because I know what DNA and the identity of Manchester United and what kind of players Manchester United are. This is about the winner identity as well as the identity of belief,” Solskjaer added.

“We want to take risks. We always want the second, third and fourth balls because that’s how we do it at Manchester United. If you can’t handle it then you are at the wrong club,” he concluded.
