DBasia.news – Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is not frustrated after seeing his team continue to fail to score a penalty. According to him, penalty failures are common.
Red Devils lost 1-2 to Crystal Palace at Old Trafford in Week three of the Premier League on Saturday (8/24) evening hrs. One United goal was scored by Daniel James, while two Palace goals were scored by Jordan Ayew and Patrick van Aanholt.
Marcus Rashford had the chance to score from the spot in the match, however, his shot only hit the crossbar. This is the second time in a row that United have failed to score a penalty after Paul Pogba failed to do so against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
“Two matches, two penalties failed. This is part of it (football). Sometimes things like this happen. I also failed to score a few penalty goals. If we had scored (penalty) then the story is different,” said Solskjaer as quoted by Goal.
“If we continue this style of play we will get more penalties and we will score goals. This is just one of those things. We trust them to score more penalty goals.”
Solskjaer also regretted the failure of his team to use ball possession and tested Vicente Guaita, Palace goalkeeper more.
“They (Palace) scored two goals and we only scored one goal. We were just not clinical enough in front of the opponents and they scored two goals which were very easy. I think we were united in the second half, only we didn’t score,” added Solskjaer .
“We dominated the game but we didn’t control it. We should have handled it well in the last five minutes. We defended badly and this punished us.”
“Sometimes, you don’t find a way to score goals and this happened today. We didn’t test their goalkeepers enough. This clearly punishes us today,” explained Solskjaer.
