Perez: Courtois is The World’s Best Goalkeeper
By db-admin
DBasia.news – President of Real Madrid, Florentino Perez, rated Thibaut Courtois as the best goalkeeper in the world today. This was said after Los Blancos won the Spanish Super Cup.
Madrid won 4-1 on penalties over Atletico Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup final match in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. High-fives must be held after both teams drew 0-0 in normal time.
Throughout the match, Thibaut Courtois performed brilliantly. He was able to frustrate several opponents’ opportunities. The Belgian goalkeeper also managed to ward off Thomas Partey’s penalty in the tossing round.
“We think Thibaut Courtois is the best goalkeeper in the world and he has shown that,” Perez told Movistar Plus.
Courtois himself claimed to be satisfied with his appearance. He also felt that Madrid deserved to be the best in the game.
“We played well in both matches and today we also deserve to win, despite the fact, Atletico are always there, we guard our goal and we are happy to win. I feel very comfortable, I believe in myself,” Courtois said.
“I studied the penalty on the bench. Saul surprised me a little, but Thomas I know clearly. He shot him very hard and very strong. I am very happy with the clean sheets and the good rescue. This is very important,” Thibaut Courtois added.
For Madrid, it was the 11th Spanish Super Cup trophy they won.
