Pique Won’t Return to Man United
By news-admin
DBasia.news – Manchester United’s inconsistency continued at the beginning of the Premier League. After the 2-1 winning against Leicester City, The Red Devils got two consecutive lost by Brighton & Hove Albion (2-3) and Tottenham Hotspur (0-3). In these three matches, David De Gea’s net got 7 conceded goals.
It showed the weak Man United’s defensive line. It is ironic since Man United have five central defenders: Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly, and Marcos Rojo. Jose Mourinho couldn’t rely on these five defenders due to the inconsistency.
That’s why Mourinho insisted to have one more defender this summer. The qualified, experienced, and reliable defender. But from all the targets: Diego Godin, Toby Alderweireld, Yerry Mina, and Harry Maguire, none came to the squad until the closing of the transfer market.
Gerard Pique name also appeared. The 31-year-old defender once supported Man United in 2004-2008. Pique was the alumnus of Man United’s academy brought from La Masia in 2004 and felt the glory moment of United under Sir Alex Ferguson.
Since supporting Barcelona in 2008, Pique became the great barrier for Blaugrana. Asked about his chance to play for Man United, Pique answered briefly.
“I don’t think so. I’m very happy here. It’s my home, with my family and friends, and playing for the club I always dreamed to play, and I hope to win more titles here,” Pique told Daily Star.
Big chance, Pique would end his career at Camp Nou by his statement. Consequently, Mourinho pressured to revive the team with the current squad, at least until January, the winter transfer market.
