DBasia.news – Tottenham Hotspur coach, Mauricio Pochettino, stated that he had prepared a plan to leave if he succeeded in locking out the 2018-19 Champions League title. However, now he claims that he is very ready to maintain Tottenham’s neat performance in Europe in the coming 2019-20 season.
Liverpool managed to secure the Champions League title after beating Tottenham in the top party with a score of 2-0. For Liverpool, the victory seemed to be a redemption for the defeat they experienced in the Champions League final in the last 2017-18 season.
“If we managed to become champions last season, maybe we would decide to step down and give the club a chance to face challenges with new coaches. However, the reality is not like that, “said Mauricio Pochettino.
“I am not someone who will run away if I face a big challenge. That makes us try hard to maintain performance in the next season. That’s what makes me very excited and ready to face new challenges, “he added.
On the same occasion, Pochettino also revealed the reason behind Kieran Trippier’s departure to Atletico Madrid. According to him, the decision was taken as the player wanted to experience new challenges with clubs outside the UK.
“Kieran stated that he was very happy to be at Tottenham. However, I understand the decision. Sometimes, players who are 28 or 29 years old really want to try their luck and look for new challenges with other clubs, “he continued.
