Praising his colleague, Ighalo compares Mason Greenwood with Van Persie
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Manchester United striker, Odion Ighalo thinks his colleague, Mason Greenwood has similar capabilities as Robin Van Persie.
Van Persie, who has played for Arsenal and United, underwent a great period in the Premiere League by scoring 144 goals and making 65 assists.
Meanwhile, Greenwood is predicted to develop into the same player as van Persie, even though the British player is still 18 years old. Greenwood scored 12 goals in 15 appearances as a starter and 20 as a reserve player in this 2019-20 season.
“I will start with Greenwood. He is a greatplayer,” Ighalo said on the club’s official website.
“I think I’m used to seeing that he’s so much like Robin van Persie. He can pull with both feet. He is a very smart player, young, and not afraid.”
Greenwood began to gain the confidence of playing in the senior team last season, with four appearances in various competitions, with three of them in the Premiere League.
In the Premiere League this season, Greenwood made 22 appearances by scoring five goals. The score can be added as the league competition will resume on June 17.
Currently, United are ranked fifth in the standings, with three points behind Chelsea, who inhabit the bottom of the Champions League.
Ighalo, who officially extended his loan period from Shanghai Shenhua until January 2021, hopes he can contribute with Greenwood to bring the Red Devils to the Champions League.
