Premier League Managers who have lost their jobs this season

By db-admin

DBasia.news –  Manuel Pellegrini became the last manager to receive the hammer of dismissal this season in the Premier League. He was fired by West Ham United.

“This is a big disappointment for us to make this decision. Manual is a good man and it is an honor to be able to work with someone of his caliber,” David Sullivan, West Ham’s co-chairman, told the media.

Manuel Pellegrini is considered to have not fulfilled the club’s ambitions to appear in European competition this season. West Ham finished last season in tenth position in the Premier League.

West Ham played fairly smooth start this season by winning 11 points from the first six matches. However, after defeating Manchester United on September 22, West Ham were only able to win two wins. They swallowed ten defeats including when against Oxford United’s third caste team in the League Cup.

Manuel Pellegrini is the sixth Premier League coach to be sacked by the club this season. Here are 5 Premier League managers who were fired in the 2019-20 season.

1. Javi Gracia

Dismissed by Watford September 7, 2019

Only four months after bringing Watford to the FA Cup final, Javi Gracia was fired because his team fell at the bottom of the Premier League standings.

Before his dimissal, Watford had not won in the Premier League this season and have not won since April. Gracia’s position was replaced by Quique Sanchez Flores.

2. Mauricio Pochettino

Dismissed by Tottenham November 19, 2019

Mauricio Pochettino is very much loved by Tottenham Hotspur fans. He is considered capable of lifting the level of Tottenham even with improvised strength. In fact he was able to bring Spurs to the Champions League final last season.

But the performance of the Spurs dived sharply this season. Tottenham swallowed four defeats in 12 matches which made them slumped to 14th position. Although it was expected, the dismissal of Pochettino, who had served for five years, was somewhat surprising. As a substitute, Spurs appointed Jose Mourinho.

3. Unai Emery

Dismissed by Arsenal November 29, 2019

The dismissal of Unai Emery has long been predicted. Even when he was unable to win Arsenal’s victory, Emery failed to win the hearts of supporters who were confused by their beloved team’s play.

Weakness in English has also made Emery not close to supporters. After seven games without a win, Arsenal finally dismissed Emery, who came to replace legendary manager. Arsene Wenger. The position of Arsenal manager currently is held by Mikel Arteta after a while beeing handled by interim coach, Freddie Ljungberg.

4. Quique Sanchez Flores

Dismissed by Watford December 1, 2019

The second dismissal of Watford this season came in early December 2019. Quique Sanchez Flores was fired despite only handling Watford in 12 matches.

Having holding back Arsenal and bringing Watford to pick the first win this season, Flores still got fired as he was considered not good enough for Watford. His position is now occupied by Nigel Pearson.

5. Marco Silva

Dismissed by Everton December 5, 2019

For Marco Silva this is the second time he was dismissed by an English club in two-years. Previously he was also fired by Watford.

Everton fired Silva after swallowing nine defeats in 15 Premier League matches that put Everton in the relegation zone. Silva’s position was filled by Duncan Ferguson before Everton finally appointed Carlo Ancelotti as the new manager.
