PSG Crowned As Ligue 1 Champion, Ander Herrera Feels Strange

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Ander Herrera successfully presented the Ligue 1 title in his inaugural season for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). But the former Manchester United player actually feels strange because the trophy was won in an unusual way.

PSG has indeed been named Ligue 1 champion even though the competition leaves eleven more matches. It was not separated from the league operator’s decision to stop the 2019-2020 season prematurely the corona virus pandemic effect.

PSG was named the champion because when the competition was stopped in the middle of leading the standings. This is the fourth straight or ninth league title overall for Les Parisiens.

Ligue 1 title should be a special thing for Herrera. This is the first time in his career being able to win the league.

Herrera was unable to do that with two previous clubs, namely Manchester United and Athletic Bilbao. The 30-year-old midfielder has only won the FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League.

In fact the inaugural league title was not really enjoyed by Herrera. He even claimed to be reluctant to celebrate.

“To be honest, I did not celebrate the title. I love football, but I would prefer to be able to play it and win the title after competing on the field,” Herrera told ESPN.

“It’s good to add more trophies, but it’s not the same. To be honest, I’m sad to win my first league champions like this.”

Herrera’s contribution is actually still very minimal for PSG. He only performed eight matches in Ligue 1 this season and managed to contribute one goal and one assist.

But Herrera has the opportunity to win another trophy with PSG this season. The French giant is still advancing in the Champions League event even though the continuation of the competition in Europe is also uncertain.
