Rashford Reason to Change the Jersey Number to 10
By news-admin
DBasia.news – Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho revealed the reason behind the change of Marcus Rashford’s jersey number. The Portuguese manager said Rashford has the ambition to wear 10 since long time ago.
Manchester United have some special numbers throughout the club history. First of all, number 7 has many stories inside and outside the field. Two of their biggest players who wore the number were David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo.
But, the 10 jersey number also has an interesting story. Couple years back, Wayne Rooney and Zlatan Ibrahimovic wore the striker number.
Now, these two are no longer part of The Red Devils. Marcus Rashford used the opportunity to wear the number 10. Previously, the England national team player wore the 19 jersey number.
“He always wanted it. He always respected Rooney and then Zlatan wanted to have it,” Mourinho explained reported by Daily Mail.
“Of course he was in the shadows waiting for the opportunity. The shirt is empty. It’s something fantastic the kid, let’s give it to him,” The Special One emphasized.
Unfortunately, the initial performance of Marcus Rashford with 10 jersey number didn’t happen as expected. Manchester United were defeated by Bayern Munchen 1-0 in the friendly match at Allianz Arena, Sunday (5/8). Javi Martinez presented the only goal of FC Hollywood.
