Repeating Madrid’s Mistake, Barcelona Might Be Suspended from Copa del Rey

DBasia.news – FC Barcelona secured the ticket of Copa del Rey quarter-final with 4-2 goal aggregate against Levante in the knockout stage. However, Blaugrana might be suspended from that tournament.
Barcelona defeated Levante 3-0 on the second leg at Camp Nou Stadium by the two goals from Ousmane Dembele and one goal from Lionel Messi. Thus, Blaugrana won 4-2 aggregate after the 2-1 defeat on the first leg.
However, El Barca might be suspended from the competition after playing the Barcelona B defender, Chumi, on the first leg. No wonder, the player who performed for 58 minutes is under the sanction after having five yellow cards in Segunda Division B.
Levante President Quico Catalan wants to bring that case to the court. He felt that Barcelona cheated on them.
However, the situation doesn’t make Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde worried. Barcelona think Chumi’s sanction isn’t applied in the Copa del Rey.
“We have no doubt about Chumi. Not before, not after, or during. We believe that tomorrow we must be in the draw. We are sure that we did it well,” Valverde said cited by FourFourTwo.
“We knew perfectly well that Chumi was sanctioned, he could not be used in the match against Eibar (in LaLiga). We are convinced of what we have done. We have acted in an absolutely correct way. We have won where we had to win. It is very clear.”
Barcelona might follow Real Madrid’s path who got suspended from Copa del Rey after placing Denis Cheryshev against Cadiz in Copa del Rey. In fact, the Russian player is having the card accumulation after three yellow cards in the previous season.
