DBasia.news – Borussia Dortmund captain, Marco Reus, threw sky-high praise to Dan-Axel Zagadou after playing neatly in the party against Mainz.
In the party against Mainz, Zagadou was played together with Mats Hummels and Manuel Akanji in the formation of three defenders. The presence of the three figures had successfully suppressed the attacks of the host and brought Der BVB home with three points.
“Dan-Axel Zagadou showed an outstanding performance in the second half. He managed to show such performance in training sessions from time to time, “said Marco Reus.
Lucien Favre’s decision to play the trio of Zagadou, Hummels and Akanji at the back also won praise from Julian Weigl. According to Weigl, the change in the playing system has had a positive impact on Dortmund.
“Changes in the playing system had a positive impact. We really have to fix some things in the back line and so far the new system of coaches has worked well, “stated Weigl.
The victory over Mainz has made Dortmund managed to maintain third place in the Bundesliga standings. Currently, Thorgan Hazard and colleagues have managed to collect 29 points from 15 matches. Four points adrift of RB Leipzig who mastered the top position after the victory over Fortuna Duesseldorf.
