DBasia.news – Raheem Sterling, Manchester City’s wing striker, turned out to be a fan of Man City city rival, Manchester United. In fact, Sterling had witnessed a Red Devils match.
In his professional career, Raheem Sterling defended Liverpool and Manchester City. However, Sterling apparently decided to support Manchester United at school.
Sterling said watching live the 2007 FA Cup final between Chelsea and Manchester United at Wembley. At that time, Chelsea came out as the winner.
“I was in the final in 2007. I should not have said this, not now. However, when I was young I was a fan of Manchester United,” Sterling explained as reported by the Mirror.
“I have Manchester United accessories since they won the FA Cup,” said the England player.
At that time, Sterling got a match ticket from his school. Inspired by that, the player gave 550 tickets for school children in the semi-final match against Brighton & Hove Albion.
“Being at the stadium, it’s amazing. It’s unbelievable and that’s when I tried to give tickets to schools. It was very motivating,” Sterling said.
“If two or three children can be inspired, that’s all I can do. If there is a child who has the opportunity to become a football player, hopefully it will give them motivation or inspiration to change their dreams.”
Raheem Sterling is predicted to be a mainstay of Manchester City against Watford in the FA Cup final, at Wembley Stadium, Saturday (18/5). If winning, the Citizens will achieve the domestic treble title.
