DBasia.news –  Former England national team defender, Rio Ferdinand, revealed that Manchester United almost obtained the services of Arjen Robben in 2004. But the offer was rejected by him. According to Ferdinand, Robben refused an offer from the Red Devils for something ridiculous.

According to Ferdinand’s confession, Robben had visited Manchester United’s training ground in the summer of 2004. However, Robben did not like the aroma there and decided to accept the proposal of Chelsea.

“Supposedly, Manchester United was to bring in Arjen Robben. I think he had come to the training ground. He then went around and apparently did not like the smell there. Shortly after, he headed to Chelsea, “Rio Ferdinand said on his personal Instagram page.

“I certainly do not believe we failed to bring in Robben. He can be one of the best players in the history of Manchester United, “added Ferdinand.

Even more, Ferdinand also said that Robben was a figure who could give every left back a nightmare. Although Robben’s playing style is predictable, no left back can stop him.

“Robben will usually shoot with his left foot. However, there is no left back who can stop him. He used to turn left and no one stopped him. Robben is an extraordinary player, “said Ferdinand.

Robben himself had officially retired at the end of the 2018-19 season. Now, the 36-year-old man fills his days by coaching football at his son’s school.
