Rodri Heads to Manchester City, Atletico Brings in Hector Herrera and Joao Felix

DBasia.news – Money from Lucas Hernandez and Rodri’s sales was well spent by Atletico Madrid. Atletico immediately recruited three players at the same time this summer.
The three players who just arrived were: Felipe, Hector Herrera and Joao Felix, all from the Portuguese club. Felipe and Herrera were from FC Porto, while Joao Felix was purchased from Benfica. In total, Atletico issued 146 million euros.
The price has not reached Lucas’s release (80 million euros), Rodri (70 million euros), and Griezmann (120 million euros). Atletico purchased Felipe for 20 million euros, while Herrera was recruited for free as his contract ended with Porto.
“The Mexican player (Herrera) will be the new red-and-white player. The midfielder will sign a three-year contract tomorrow,” stated an official statement on the club’s official website.
Felipe came to replace the former Atletico captain, Diego Godin, who left for Inter Milan. Whereas Herrera is filling in a spot left by Rodri who left to Manchester City.
Of course, the transfer that received the most attention was Joao Felix’s. Only 19 years old, Joao Felix has a tag of 126 million euros and Atletico redeemed his purchase clause from Benfica. Just a note, Felix only appeared for one season at Benfica’s main team.
Atletico under Diego Simeone’s care has high hopes for Felix, who is plotted to replace Griezmann. Felix received a contract with a duration of seven years.
“Atletico de Madrid and Benfica have reached an agreement regarding the transfer of Joao Felix. The 19-year-old player has signed a contract for the next seven seasons,” the statement added on the club’s official website.
Atletico really do not want to be outdone by city rivals, Real Madrid, who have purchased six new players in the transfer market this summer.
