Rome Bend Fiorentina at Artemio Franchi

DBasia.news –  AS Roma defeated host Fiorentina 4-1 when they visited the Artemio Franchi Stadium in Florence for the match of the 17th week of the Italian League.

Edin Dzeko and Aleksandar Kolarov put Roma ahead before Fiorentina responded through Milan Badelj, but Lorenzo Pellegrini and Nicolo Zaniolo’s goals sealed the visitors’ victory 4-1.

The result solidifies Rome’s position in fourth place standings by 35 points, cutting the distance from city rivals Lazio (36) who finished third. While Fiorentina (17) dropped to 14th place in the standings.

Attacking each other since the beginning of the match, Roma first took advantage of the opportunities they created through a close-range flick Dzeko completed Zaniolo’s delivery in the 19th minute.

Two minutes later Kolarov’s free-kick lodged into the top left corner of the goal after Pezzella broke down Zaniolo not far from the penalty box.

Fiorentina minimize their lag in the 34th minute when Badelj grabbed a wild ball from Martin Caceres who was driven away by the Roma defense, the score 1-2 lasted until halftime.

The second half Roma created more chances until finally in the 73rd minute Pellegrini added to the visitors’ lead to 3-1 through a shot from outside the penalty box.

Roma, who scored another goal this time, Dzeko returned Zaniolo’s services. Zaniolo puts the ball in the bottom left corner of the goal.

Score 4-1 lasted until the match whistle which was marked by Dusan Vlahovic left-foot shot hit the crossbar in injury time.
