Basia.news –  Ronaldo, President of Real Valladolid, positively welcomed the performance of the investigating team in investigating the issue of scoring setting that took place in LaLiga. It is ready to assist as much as possible.

So far, the police have arrested several players – those who have or have not retired – from LaLiga and the second division (Segunda), as well as club executives, regarding the issue of scoring that occurred in May 2018.

“Among those arrested were active players and retirees,” the police said, quoted from the BBC Sport.

“The investigation is focused on those who are being investigated who have an agreement with different players to ‘organize’ at least three matches in the first, second and third divisions.”

No mention of special teams involved in the scandal, but the amount of money used as stakes reached 14 times. Bets include match results and several other things like the number of corners.

The investigation carried out by the police was welcomed by a LaLiga spokesman who spoke to BBC Sport. The spokesman also stressed that LaLiga will continue to fight against the issue of scoring and all things that hurt the fair play.

“We want to thank the police for the great performance to reveal, which seems to be an organized criminal group that wants to reap economic benefits through football matches,” said the spokesman.

“We also message the General Director on 18 soccer matches to find out and punish players from the lower division, who could be involved in bets for their competition. LaLiga continues to fight to eliminate everything that is contrary to fair play in Spanish football. “

Borja Fernandez, former captain of Valladolid, was also arrested for allegedly involved in setting the score. The arrest was based on accusations of money laundering, bribery, corruption, and its relation to criminal organizations.

Ronaldo also spoke up about this. While hoping Fernandez was innocent, Ronaldo, representing Valladolid, also confirmed his team’s openness to assist the police investigation.

“(I hope) Borja is not involved (the issue of setting the score) at all. But, in any case, I think it’s good to be investigated because we all don’t want corruption,” Ronaldo told the United States.

“Look, I’m from Brazil and there we have a very high level of corruption. We support investigations, we will do everything we can to work together and we will provide all the information we have.”
