DBasia.news – Manchester United were beaten three goals without reply by Barcelona in the Champions League quarter-final second leg at Camp Nou, Wednesday (17/4) WIB. Ruud Gullit, AC Milan legend, highlighted the choice of tactics by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Being left behind 1-0 at the first meeting, Manchester United tried to serve the Barcelona game by applying attack tactics. However, it actually backfired on Paul Pogba and mates.
Barcelona closed the first round with a 2-0 advantage thanks to the action of Lionel Messi. Manchester United’s suffering increased after Philippe Coutinho scored Barca’s third goal in the 61st minute.
According to Gullit, Solskjaer has implemented a wrong strategy. According to the Dutch man, the Red Devils actually played well in the first leg.
“I think Manchester United made a mistake. I can understand when you play at home wanting to score and be more brave to decide not to do it in the first leg,” Gullit said as reported by beIN SPORTS.
“They managed to excel in the first leg because of an own goal. Messi did not pack shots on target, but then you go to Camp Nou and want to attack.”
Gullit revealed he did not understand the strategy played by Solskjaer. According to him, it is very difficult to play attack when Barcelona plays at home.
“You can ask Liverpool or Chelsea who did it. You can ask Atletico Madrid or who did it. You won’t attack there and they did it. I think it’s a big mistake.”
