Serie A rejects Napoli’s request to postpone the match against Juventus

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Serie A has reiterated that the match between Juventus and Napoli will be held as it should on Monday (5/10) at 01.45 WIB.

The status of this match was in uncertainty after Napoli asked for a schedule delay. Il Partenopei has even officially submitted this request to the Serie A and Juventus operators.

The Napoli camp argued that they could not leave Naples as they gave collided with the local regional health protocol. This relates to the status of two Napoli players, namely Piotr Zielinski and Eljif Elmas who were positive for the corona virus.

There is a threat that a number of victims will increase so that the entire squad must undergo isolation. Napoli’s management feared that the decision to fly to Turin would result in them violating health protocols that could result in criminal penalties.

However, the idea was rejected by the Serie A operator. Referring to the special regulations during the pandemic, the conditions experienced by Napoli were not strong enough to postpone a match.

“In response to Napoli’s official request (to postpone the match), Lega Calcio stated that the current regulations are aimed to ensure the health of all people, equal treatment for all clubs and respect for the principles of sportsmanship,” wrote the official Serie A statement as quoted by Football Italia.

“The same rules were applied to other cases in the past, for example allowing Torino to play against Atalanta, Milan’s trip to Crotone, Genoa’s away match at San Paolo vs Napoli and Atalanta’s home game against Cagliari.”

“The Lega Calcio board also approved a set of rules that could lead to postponement of matches with only a few cases of players testing positive for the virus. This condition cannot be applied to the current Napoli case and there is no decision by the local authorities to prevent the match from being played, “continued the statement of Serie A.

Serie A does have its own protocol that refers to UEFA regarding the corona virus outbreak. Each club may apply for a match postponement if the remaining squad only has 13 people.

Genoa is a club that is helped by this regulation. The match against Torino which was supposed to be held on Saturday (3/10) was postponed after 17 players were infected with the corona virus, leaving 13 registered names.

The certainty of holding this match has made Napoli threatened to lose to WO. As is known, Gennaro Gattuso’s team canceled their departure to Turin.

If Napoli are not present on the field, Juventus will be awarded a 3-0 victory. A condition that is very unfortunate considering this match is so awaited by football lovers.
