Sardar Azmoun
DBasia.news – Iran national team striker Sardar Azmoun showed his class while helping Iran won two consecutive matches against Yaman (5-0) and Vietnam (2-0) in the group phase of 2019 Asian Cup.
The Rubin Kazan player scored three goals and becomes the candidate as 2019 Asian Cup top-scorer. But, he revealed to AFC, he prefers other things instead of the top-scorer title.
“I’m pleased with the team’s performance, not with my own goals. It’s not important to me who scores and who does not score, the team’s success is much more significant to me. I certainly do not think about such matters as becoming top scorer,” he confessed.
“Scoring is great, as you get what you have worked for. I am grateful that I score, however it’s better to be the champion of the tournament rather than being the top scorer.”
In the upcoming match, Azmoun and friends would play against Iraq who also won two matches of Group D and decided who would be the winner and runner-up of the group.
