DBasia.news – The issue of Matthijs de Ligt’s transfer to Barcelona is becoming increasingly daily. The former Ajax Amsterdam captain, Siem de Jong, commented on the issue.
Matthijs de Ligt is one of the best-selling players in the transfer market. The Dutch player is rumored to be the target of Barcelona, Juventus, Manchester City to Manchester United.
Related to that, De Jong gave support if De Ligt chose to join Barcelona. De Jong admitted he did not mind if he saw De Ligt defending the Barcelona’s banner.
“I have heard a lot of stories about clubs who want to purchase him. I understand that,” De Jong told Omnisport.
“He is a young player who is very physically strong. In addition, De Ligt is also superior in terms of aerial duels. He is a good man and will be good for the team,” De Jong continued.
“I’m not sure where he will leave, he has many choices. Maybe it’s a very good club. One of my favorite clubs is Barcelona, so I don’t mind seeing him there,” he said.
Siem de Jong also commented on the transfer of Frenkie de Jong to Barcelona. According to him, De Jong had made the right decision.
“Of course he can get better by playing with Lionel Messi. In fact, that also happens when appearing with other players there and greater competition for him,” explained de Jong.
“He will thrive a lot in the coming years. For him, that is a very, very good challenge.”
Frenkie de Jong and Matthijs de Ligt worked together when Ajax Amsterdam beat Juventus 2-1 in the second leg of the last 16 Champions League 2018-2019, at Allianz Stadium, Tuesday (16/4) local time. One of the two visitors’ goals was created by De Ligt through a header.
