DBasia.news – Atletico Madrid has announced that they had extended coach Diego Pablo Simeone’s contract until the end of June 2022.
With this contract agreement, the Argentine coach will spend 10 seasons with Atletico.
Simeone and Atletico have collected two European League titles, as well as one Spanish League title, Cope del Rey and European Supercup.
Together with Atletico he also reached the Champions League final in 2014 and 2016 where they lost to their city rivals Real Madrid.
The 48-year-old coach had previously been rumored to move to Chelsea if the English club fired Italian coach Massimo Sarri.
But with the signing of a new contract with Atletico, it is certain that Simeone will not leave Wanda Metropolitano Stadium any time sooner.
“I am with the support of everyone at Atletico Madrid. We will be heading for the future until 2022 with hope and confidence,” Simeone said.
