Solskjaer believes Man United deserves to lose to Crystal Palace

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitted that his Manchester United team deserved to be defeated by Crystal Palace 1-3 at Old Trafford last night. The MU players did not appear enthusiastic and were punished by the superior performance of the visitors.

Donny van de Beek’s goal was not enough to prevent Manchester United from losing. Palace scored three goals through Wilfried Zaha (2) and Andros Townsend.

According to Solskjaer, Townsend’s goal in the 7th minute took Manchester United’s players by surprise. In addition, Palace also played well throughout the match.

“Crystal Palace played sharper than us. They were also careful in duels and winning tackles,” said Solskjaer as reported by the Manchester Evening News.

“We started slowly and had a shock effect on the rest of the game after Palace scored the first goal.”

“We will improve the quality of the game as soon as possible. Hopefully we can do that quickly,” added the manager.

“You can very rarely see the performance of our players like today. The reason is, our players are better than what they show now.”

In addition, Solskjaer accused Manchester United’s lack of preparation. According to him, The Red Devils did not achieve much time for adequate rest.

“We have had a long season of neglect. Our game is not finished until August 16,” said Solskjaer.

“We don’t have much time to prepare to be sharp. We are working well with all the players, but some of them are absent for the national team.”

“I spoke with Roy Hodgson and he said his team had already played four friendly matches. Meanwhile, this is their third competitive match.”

“This situation is a big difference from the test against Aston Villa that we did last week. We have to catch up and have started to lead there.”

Manchester United did not have time to improve. Paul Pogba and his colleagues will face Luton Town in the English League Cup match on Wednesday (23/9).
