DBasia.news – Paul Pogba, Manchester United midfielder, praised his manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. As if insinuating Jose Mourinho, Pogba said Solskjaer gave the players the freedom to play.
Solksjaer, who was recently appointed as United’s permanent manager, replaced Mourinho in December 2018. United’s performance improved through a number of positive periods which led the club to compete in the top four of the Premier League and advance to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
Compared to when still being trained by Mourinho, the Red Devils squad is currently in a more positive atmosphere. Pogba unhesitatingly praised Solskjaer and restored the essence of playing football: enjoying the game.
“So far so good. The results have been very good. We have a coach (Solskjaer) who values us, a coach who is truly happy. He gives confidence back to the players,” Pogba told Sky Sports.
“He gives freedom to play football again. Maybe we lost it before.”
“On the first day he arrived he just told us to enjoy the football game again. When you don’t enjoy the game, there’s no point in playing football. When you stop loving what you do, there’s no point in doing that anymore.”
“Let’s go back to basics and enjoy the game. Enjoy the time playing together, enjoy the moment when attacking, and then that’s all. Then, the results will come on their own,” concluded Pogba.
The 25-year-old French midfielder is one of the players who rose under the care of Solskjaer. He scored eight goals and gave six assists when United through 12 Premier League matches without ever losing.
